I was shocked when a health problem arose my first year here and I was asked to pay out-of-pocket for a routine pap smear because I was under 30.<br /><br />Inefficiency is another huge issue. I think, on the whole, Taiwan is more efficient - no need for appointments, usually, and seeing a specialist is easy peasy.
